What to do when your toddler says "No" to pants?

Truly has become a little defiant lately. Whenever it's time to get dresses, she'll let me know what she wants to wear. That's right, I have no say whatsoever.

"This Shirt?" -Me
"NO" -Truly
"Dora?" -Me
"Dora?" -Truly
"Yea?" -Me
"NOOO" -Truly

And it continues like this for at least 30 minutes. I've pretty much given up all hope of gaining control over my 21 month's wardrobe choices. Even shopping, she'll let me know what clothes she wants to buy and what clothes need to get out of the cart. From purple crocs, to rainbow stripes, to yellow raincoats, and polka-dot hats, Truly's imagination takes hold of her clothes choices. I'm pretty sure all my crazy clothes choices and all my defiance with my mother about clothes just came back to me with vengeance with my own daughter. At this rate I wouldn't be surprised to see skulls, miniskirts, and leg warmers in her closet. *Sigh*

Do you have defiant kids when it comes to clothing? How do you deal with it?

  3. Again..the SAME thing! While I feel bad because I know what you're going through, I also feel good that I'm not the only one. In my opinion, I gave her too many choices since day one, do you want peas? carrots? which book to do you want to read? So now, while I'm glad she has a mind of her own, I can't even put on a song in the car that I like without her crying because it's not one of her choices.
